What Is Dry Ridge?
Modern Mortar-Free Ridge
Traditional mortar ridge tiles crack and lift over time, allowing water and wind into your roof. Dry ridge systems use mechanical fixings and a ventilated roll to secure ridge tiles without any mortar.
How It Works
A ridge roll membrane is laid along the apex of the roof, and ridge tiles are then mechanically fixed with screws and clips. This creates a strong, weatherproof seal that flexes with the building rather than cracking like mortar.
Compatible with Most Tiles
We fit dry ridge systems suitable for concrete interlocking tiles, plain tiles, and many slate profiles. Universal ridge tiles are available where the originals cannot be reused.
Building Regulation Compliant
Dry ridge systems meet BS 8612 standards and are compliant with current UK building regulations. They are now the recommended method for new builds and re-roofs.
Why Replace Mortar Ridge?
Cracking & Crumbling
Mortar naturally deteriorates over time due to thermal movement, frost, and weathering. Once it cracks, water penetrates and accelerates further damage.
Loose Ridge Tiles
As mortar fails, ridge tiles become loose and can be blown off in storms, creating a safety hazard and leaving your roof exposed to water ingress.
Improved Ventilation
Dry ridge systems include a ventilated membrane that allows airflow through the roof space, helping to prevent condensation and damp in your loft.
Permanent Solution
Unlike mortar which needs re-bedding every 15-20 years, a properly installed dry ridge system lasts the lifetime of the roof with zero maintenance.
